All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Motorcycle season is finally here!

Now that the weather is getting nicer, motorcycle enthusiasts are getting back on the road.  Yesterday morning I heard a familiar rumbling, a neighbor starting up his Harley for the first time in months.  There is a large sign on the fence around their yard - CHECK TWICE SAVE A LIFE - Motorcycles are EVERWHERE!

Please be extra careful, nice weather causes many drivers to become distracted. I know that I get excited about spring, and get tempted to glance at the trees starting to bloom and peak in yards for spring flowers.  And even worse, the ever present road and bridge work that poses a major distraction to drivers.

The MA auto policy part #2 Personal Injury Protection, does NOT provide coverage to a motorcyclist or their passenger.  Riders should always carry part #6 Medical Payments coverage to protect themselves.

A few other things to remember before getting on your bike

  1. Contact your insurance agent or company to restore any coverages that may have been reduced for the winter months
  2. Check that all your safety equipment and helmet are in working order
  3. Make sure everything is in working order on your bike, headlamp, brakes and directionals
