Labor Day weekend upon us, can you believe it!! What are your plans for the upcoming holiday weekend?  I am planning to head North to my camp with my family for the last long weekend of the summer.  I have already started to plan ahead on what to pack and have even started making my grocery list.  Planning ahead is always a good idea and is a must when it comes to road safety. I thought I’d share some safe travel tips to think about before you head out.

 “Drive Now, Text Later”  MassDOT  always reminds drivers to avoid using cell phones while driving.  Please remember the texting ban covers e-mailing, Internet searching, and other non-calling activity on a phone, laptop, or handheld electronic device by anyone operating a motor vehicle. Move Over Law  Move over law protects first responders.  New legislation in MA aims to make police, firefighters, paramedics, tow truck drivers and all roadside emergency and maintenance professionals safer on the job.  The move over law, which took effect March 22, 2009, requires drivers approaching a stationary emergency or maintenance vehicle with flashing lights to move to the next adjacent lane if it is safe to do so, and barring that, to reduce their speed.  Failure to comply could result in a fine of up to $100.  Learn move about Move Over Law.
