All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Halloween Safety

Tomorrow is Halloween and I know that I will be out with the masses taking my daughter on the annual house to house walk.  With it getting darker earlier I know that we will be out at dusk and after dark which are most difficult times for drivers to see.  But there is a lot more to Halloween safety than our time on the road.  The American Academy of Pediatrics has a great list of tips and tricks to keep you and your family safe this Halloween.

Here are just a few but you can access the complete list here.

Getting Dressed Up:

  • Plan costumes that are bright and reflective. Make sure that shoes fit well and that costumes are short enough to prevent tripping, entanglement or contact with flame.
  • Consider adding reflective tape or striping to costumes and trick-or-treat bags for greater visibility.  You can even stop by our office to pick up one of our free very shiny trick or treat bags to take with you.

On the road:

  • If your older children are going alone, plan and review the route that is acceptable to you. Agree on a specific time when they should return home.
  • Only go to homes with a porch light on and never enter a home or car for a treat.
  • Carry a cell phone for quick communication.
  • Remain on well-lit streets and always use the sidewalk.

Have fun and stay safe this Halloween from your friends at Georgetown Insurance Agency, Inc.
