All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Much needed rain can lead to unwelcome water

Spring showers are coming down and ground waters are rising in the North East! Although it was a very snowy winter, spring showers have been scarce. If you did not know... a homeowners policy does not provide any coverage for flood or surface water damage. If you have a wet basement from flood or ground water, any damage to your home may only be covered by a Flood Policy.

Rates on flood vary greatly depending on where your home is located in relation to any body of water that can flood. Flood coverage may help pay for damage and prices can be a few hundred per year, or possibly several thousands. Normally there is a mandatory 30 day wait period for a new policy to start coverage. A new home purchase or bank request for Flood coverage during a refinance, MAY qualify you for a more immediate type of coverage.

In case you did not know... car's have coverage for flood damage under "Comprehensive", which is an optional coverage. Check with your car insurance carrier just in case your vehicle suffers damage as well! If you are interested in more info please contact our agency. At Georgetown Insurance we are here to help you determine the right coverage for your needs.
